In March of 2025 the wonderfully talented team at Illo put out an open call for submissions for a motion-driven showcase. The brief can be found at: https://illo.tv/oddly-in-love and like everyone else who saw it, I was immediately in love with the concept. I knew what my submission was going to be almost immediately, Pancakes. My love language has always been "Acts of Service" and more specifically cooking for loved ones. Sadly in the middle of the design phase I got booked on an amazing project and had to put my submission off until well after the deadline.
I decided to keep it as a personal project to work on in between client work and loved every second of it. Designed in Procreate and animated in Procreate Dreams/After Effects. Below I've got some intial sketches, a color test, boards and some individually animated elements.
